What time in the morning should I be on campus for 1st day of orientation? It doesn’t say so ANNYWHERE :/

Check-in is from 8-10

Is anyone else flying to Austin and taking the shuttle bus from there to the campus? That’s what I planned on doing, but now I’m not so sure if that’s the best option…

One more question. I have many classes taken care of already due to dual credit enrollment classes from HS. UT hasn’t received a final transcript for all of this yet…so during orientation do I simply get to not sign up for classes I already have credit for or will it force me to sign up for them? (Government/Economics/English, etc.)

Hm, as far as I know, no one “forces you” to take any classes in college. You simply sign up for the ones you don’t have credit for accordingly. So, I wouldn’t sign up for any of the classes you received dual-credits from. UT will probably receive the transcript end of June to mid July and it should be fine. Have you checked your community college transcript online to see if you passed the course? If you passed all of them it should be fine!

Thank you for clarification.

Seriously, the orientation program is awesome! I went and really liked the programs. It’s really fun to be engaged and make friends who are open-minded and willing to go to the programs with you. Plus, you have all the time in the world to go out and explore Austin, there’s only one chance to go to the programs at your freshman orientation.

I second that opinion! What’s the point of paying for orientation if you skip out on the majority of offered programs? I would highly suggest going to every program because they’re fun and/or they have important information to offer. I went to every program at my orientation session and loved it. Please don’t pass up the opportunity to fully experience orientation just because one person on an internet forum claimed that the programs were “boring” or “awkward”.
