How was the nov SSAT test?

How was the November SSAT test? Hard? Easy?

I think it was easy, had to skip some stuff here and there, but I would say the easiest was the math and the hardest the vocab.

My dd took the SSAT yesterday. She felt she did well, she did however say she studied over 400 vocab words to only see 5 or 6 on the test…??? She also felt the math was easier than the vocab.

5 or 6 vocab words? Maybe 5 or 6 she didn’t know, because there were definitely at least 30.

I took it yesterday as well. I felt the Reading comp and Verbal Section were easier than math, for me. I didn’t omit any on reading, and about three analogy questions on verbal, and omitted several on math :frowning:
My timing for math was very tight, as math is my weakest subject. I never practiced timing my essay, but it was fine. I guess it depends on what prompt you get.
Overall, easier than expected, yet hard in a way.

I had a pretty easy essay topic, but I spent too long just sitting there and THINKING about it. Ugh, never got to finish it. D:
Math was very easy, which was surprising (I feel like the practice test math sections were SO MUCH HARDER). Reading was easier than I expected it to be, but it did require quite some time and thoughts into eliminating the choices. Vocab was very challenging, and I couldn’t even really take a guess for many of the words. (Although it might have been harder for me because I am a foreigner.)
It’s definitely not as difficult as expected, but one should be careful anyways.

What essay prompt did you get?

^^You can’t discuss essay prompts or specific questions. Gives future test takers an unfair advantage, sorry.

But they give different tests for each month?

Yeah, but you still get a good idea on what vocab words or math problems or reading skills to study for. ^.^

And the vocab was very difficult for me, got at least 5 wrong…
but reading and math were pretty easy. :)

Wow. I could rant about this SSAT and how the books I used were so–okay, I’ll stop here. I took it, obviously, and I thought the vocab was easy (haha, it did not show on my scores, but whatever). The analogies were okay. They’re always weird, to me. Math was more difficult than the math in the books I used, but still simple. Reading… it was okay. Normal. I guess the reading material was easy, but the questions were… evil.

Essay. Twas fine. They’re all special in their own way. Come up with ideas beforehand, remember! :D

Funny how in my first post on this thread, I said that the math was easy and the vocab hard? My scores completely put it the other way around, with my highest percentile in vocab and lowest in math.

Aw, it’s alright. From your other posts (not to sound like a stalker), I think that the SSATs won’t really affect you that much.

I think the grading is messed up! Is it normal to get around 20 questions wrong in the vocab/analogies and still be in 90 percentile?! And how come if you get about 5 wrong in the reading, you are at like 90 percentile, yet for math, if you get like 5 wrong, you’re like at 96 percentile?! I mean, I know the percentiles are based off of all the people who took it, but…!!!

And then if you average the separate percentiles manually and compare it to your “overall percentile”, the overall is much higher? Okay, this sounds so confusing… because it is.

How did you all already get your scores? They say they are delivered the 24th, today, but we don’t get mail on Thanksgiving…I thought that was weird.

^ Yes, they notified us that we would be receiving our scores today, (not including the people who paid extra to receive them by e-mail). But I think the post office is closed today :(

Wait so they contacted you telling you that you would get your scores today but they forgot that it was thanksgiving? Or did you get yours earlier?

Just saying, for those who are concerned that you did well in one subject on the first test and did poorly the other time…that’s completely normal! Each SSAT the people make a certain section much harder, and the others evenly balanced. I never took practice tests, so I don’t know how the questions compare, but the first time I took SSATs I got a 76th in Vocab, and a 95th in Vocab the second time. My lowest score became my highest!

@helloel, when I was signing up for the whole score thing, they said that we would receive the scores right before or on November 24th. Coincidentally, the 24th is Thanksgiving and the post office is closed. because unless you signed up for the email stuff, i don’t think you would have gotten your score yet:(

wait scratch that,
I just got my scores today, like an hour ago.
you’ll probably be getting your soon, presumably.

I think the mail service was off today because I didn’t even get my mail today.
