How was the PSAT?

I just finished taking it, I'm in lunch right now.

I thought it was way hard, but I didn't study so whatever. I kept skipping math questions, but for some reason I somehow got them during the writing section, but only because I remembered the questions and answers. No, I didn't go back to the other sections, what are you talking about?! Worked in my head.

Now we have to wait like 2 months.

It was hard. I guessed on 10 questions on the writing section (not ENOUGH TIME AHH)

Plus 5 questions i guessed on math (mostly on student response question)

Probably get the same score if not a little higher then freshmen score of 162

I thought it was okay… I guessed on about 3 questions because of vocab.
& that one sentence that started w/ that.
The math killed me; it’s definitely not a strong point of mine :/. I actually skipped 9/20 of them. <__<’’

Felt the 1st reading section was hard… I wasn’t sharp on that. Know I made a few stupid mistakes on it.

The test as a whole wasn’t hard, but the math section was a little bit more difficult than last year.

ahh the clock was in the back of the room, i was on the front, ran out of time on first two sections ahhhh :frowning: it wasn’t hard though i just wished i had time to finish

Your teachers didn’t announce “5 minutes left” ?? I had a ton of time on the writing section :stuck_out_tongue: The first reading was very hard.

I agree that the first reading was very hard. The vocab sentences were not that difficult, but I thought the passage-based questions were harder. The math was super easy; I would be surprised if I missed any of them. Writing was pretty easy, too. I think I missed around 2-4 of those.

The second reading was much easier than the first. I thought the math was alright, but I felt a bit rushed. and the writing was just ehhh okay.

Everything seemed relatively easy to me (except the writing section–Which was SUPER HARD!)

So I guess this means I failed.

Math was super easy! Reading… not so much.

^Yeah I noticed that to! Well except the last 3 grid-ins…

I’m blithed that it was only 2 1/2 hours. I’ve been taking tons of SAT prep and relieved that I actually diddn’t recieve a headache afterwards. Just gotta keep on sharpening those SAT skills. And, now I know what pedestrian means :)

it was okay but I didn’t study at all, so I’m not expecting a great score. I breezed through the first two sections and thought they were relative easy, but the next two sections killed me. I was so hungry and it was hard to focus on the questions. the math grid ins were really difficult for me, and I didn’t have time to finish the math. I thought the writing was pretty good…

I’m absolutely dumbfounded by the math question that was like n is the number of males at the school, and k is the number of how many more males than females there are at the school. And then it asked for the ratio, I actually thought the math section was easy, but I could not for the lifeee get that one, I also didn’t get the non-multiple choice asking about the 60 mph for 6 minutes and 50mph. :(

I did ok for a soph I guess. Guessed on 5 (2 in CR, 1 in math, 2 in writing) and left 2 grid ins for math blank. I think I got like 90% of everything else right though.

^^I plugged in example numbers and got k/(2k-n).

As for the second one, you just solve for the distance using d/t = rate (for 60 mph), then solve for time for 50 mph. It came out to 7.2 minutes or something. I could be wrong, though.

I think I did well. Unlike you guys, I had a lot more trouble with the secod reading section. I breezed through the first. Strange… The math was pretty easy, but I ran out of time in the first section and didn’t get to the cylinder question. I think I got all of the second section right, though (except maybe number 28… Was the answer 28?). At most, I missed 4 math, 3 critical reading, and 2 writing (I think). At least, I missed one math, 0 critical reading, and 0 writing. I didn’t think the writing section was that bad, but I almost ran out of time. All in all, I’m hoping for a 220+. Let’s just hope I didn’t severely miscalculate and actually get a 180 or something.

How is the PSAT scored anyway?

Second CR was a bit harder than first (Curse you, Professor Mo). Overall the sentence completion blind-sided me a bit. Didn’t expect it to be that hard. Writing wasn’t too tough, though I got hung up on the very last question about how the passage could be improved (saying how readymades can be appealing??)

The math wasn’t awful. I thought the student-response was especially simple. I know I made some stupid mistakes on parts of it though. Ugh. Gotta remind myself it’s a PRACTICE SAT, not the real deal.

I got those same answers, StudiousMaximus :D

I am so glad because I think the only reason I got the vocab question with “pedestrian” was because we just had that word in my English class a few days ago. I had always thought it just meant someone who is walking; I didn’t know it could also mean plain and unimaginative.
