I’m going into my junior year in about 5 days. I got my textbooks yesterday though and want to know what you guys had to go through in both APUSH and AP Lit to prepare for the storm I’m about to sail into. Mainly like what was hw like, notes, studying, time management, and any tips to help.
I found that both classes were easier than I anticipated. AP Lit at my school wasn’t challenging. Simply read the books and use sparknotes to understand chapters you find confusing. The only hw was reading chapters outside of class and writing essays. APUSH required a lot of note taking, but it was pretty easy to get used to. My teacher handed out a calendar for each unit with the number of pages to read each night on it. It takes a few weeks to figure out how much you need to write down, but you will get the hang of it! Expect to be taking notes each night from anywhere from 5 to 15 pages of text. I also had the occasional essay, debate to prepare for, or documentary to watch. To prepare for tests, I reviewed my notes and any worksheets my teacher gave us. If you take good notes and remember some of what you read each night it will be fine! After the first test you will understand what you need to do to be successful. I wouldn’t worry too much about your classes. It’s going to be tough, but both are very manageable! Good luck!
For APUSH - Try your best to keep up on the reading. It’s monotonous at times but getting behind can leave in in a tough spot on a quiz or test lol. Seems like common sense, but just s k i p p i n g the next chapter will sound so nice at some point. If you’re really tired, find some sort of shortened spark notes - like website. I relied pretty heavily on those when I had a lot going on, but try to read the actual text book as much as possible.
