...the courses arn't on your transcript?

My school sucks and will only let me put three online AP courses total on my transcript. However, my counselor has assured me that if I send in the transcript from the online institution that it will be just as good. Any advice? I don't want to waste my time with online AP courses if they arn't going to give me any edge in admissions.

Comments would be appreciated thanks.

i like how the courses are just being used to give you an edge in admissions - nice.

^ lol.

Just send the online courses transcript… it won’t hurt.

It’s fine. Colleges recalculate your GPA anyways. They will take your high school transcript as well as the online school transcript into account. Your online AP courses do not have to be on the high school transcript, but you should get your counselor to include your 3 best online AP class grades to boost your rank.

Don’t mean to hijack to OP’s thread but I would appreciate any information/links to online AP courses. I’ve heard of them but never knew of a reputable website because I went to an IB school, but this could be great for my sister who will also have limits on the number of AP’s she can take.

Thanks

Some places that offer online AP courses and beyond will provide their own transcript that can be sent along. JHU-CTY is one. The cost $5 each and they will send a comprehensive one that includes any summer session classes, online AP classes and online college level classes, such as linear algebra, etc.

You routinely MUST submit official transcripts from all providers of high school level or college level courses you have taken, so send the transcript from the program with your college application. My son will be sending in six (6) different transcripts with his college applications next fall.

Yes, you must send everything. It looks like I’ll be sending 5 in the end.

Also, you may want to check your state board policy. I’m pretty sure that in my state high schools have no power not to accept credits from accredited schools.

I go to a private school so they can do whatever they want.

And thank you everyone for the info!
