How well did Echols Scholar-status take Ivy-league kids this year?

How many of you got the UVA Echols status, as well as acceptances at Ivy League schools -- and will be attending UVA?

i got accepted into echols but no ivies

well, my classmates,3 of them, got in ECHOLS, and Columbia, Princeton and Upenn, one of them may choose UVA

I know this is the inverse of your question but you won't know how well they did unless you hear from both sides. I got into Echols, Northwestern, Brown, Columbia, and Yale...I'm going to Yale. I have lived my entire life in Charlottesville so I'm going to miss it but I couldn't pass up Yale for basically the same cost as UVa in-state.

i took echol's over cornell

Penn over Echols

Harpingchic - I mean no offense when I say I'm surprised by your decision. If you have some time, it would you comment a bit on why you made that decision?

probably b/c penn is an ivy?

Echols, and the Jefferson, over Yale.

Princeton over Echols

yale over echols&jefferson

well... obviously, these are not the only reasons, but this about sums it up: i'm in-state, so many of my friends will be attending uva - something i wish to avoid since i want to branch out in college... also- although uva's music program is improving, penn's is stronger, and philly offers many things for a musician that charlottesville cannot (i.e. curtis, philadelphia orchestra, better teachers). i need to be somewhere where there are many opportunities to perform. after having lived in williamsburg for most of my life, city life (and all of the opportunities available there) will be a nice change. in addition, penn can offer more diversity - something that is really important to me because you can't really appreciate your opinions and views until they are challenged, and what better way than to learn from many different kinds of people? then - of course - the whole ivy league thing. we all know uva is one of those publics ivies. a graduate from an ivy league school and/or uva will end up with the same jobs, and making the same kind of money. while prestige is nice, it was NOT a key factor in my decision.
