How well do you think PSAT scores translate into SAT scores?

Did you find that you got a similar score on the SAT? How much preparation did you do between them? Did you find the PSAT to be similar in difficulty?

Specifically the writing...I don't think that a multiple choice section trasnlates to a writing section...

It doesn’t translate very well. Case in point: a friend of mine who scored in the 200’s range on the PSAT, but then took the SAT and scored a 2340. I personally had a 210 PSAT sophomore year and a 2120 SAT that same year, but I still regard the PSAT to have inaccurately predicted my score since I was VERY sick on the day I took the SAT.

I read somewhere a year or so ago that most students get about 100 more on the first SAT after. S got 198 on PSAT and 2120 on SAT. Only took it once.

221 PSAT
2260 SAT
2340 SAT

Pretty good predictor imo

Generally, I’d say it doesn’t translate very well. For instance, I got a 170 on my Sophomore PSAT, a 179 on my Junior PSAT, then I decided it was time to start studying when I got that score back, and I already have raised my writing ~150-200 points.
