Did it seal the deal for you? Would you care to share your experience? Anything you would like to recommend doing there?

I actually hated the first half of BDD. A lot of talk about Duke students ‘playing hard,’ a lot of talk about parties, which I hated and made me feel alienated. But I managed to talk to a wider x-section of students in the evening (dance/art/lit) majors, which was anyways closer to what I wanted and who I am that made me feel better. I also talked to a senior who was very honest/true about her feelings for Duke (not all of them good) which was ext. helpful. Not getting the party line was really nice. Eating dinner with current frosh was nice too, because it had the feel of being uncensored.

I spent a lot if time watching other students, looking around, and trying to imagine myself there. Def stay overnight if possible, some if the Trinity sessions were nice for getting an academic sense of the school, get up early and go to the dept fair.

I really enjoyed Blue Devil Day experience, especially meeting different prof.s and figuring out the campus - the lectures and department fair people were awesome. Basically everyone I met was really nice - I wish I’d been able to find a room mate there (everyone said you should try, but it seemed like lot of people were there in little groups, hard to find out enough about a person to ask to room together ), but it was a great overall couple days.
I was ED, but this def. was a good time for getting a feel for Duke and I would recommend it to anyone who is having issues deciding between Duke and another place (the 80 degree weather and sunshine didn’t hurt either ).
