Hey I was wondering, how large is the selectivity gap between Stern and CAS?

While I would love to go to Stern, especially the IOMS department, I just don't know if I'll get accepted. So instead I was thinking of applying to CAS for economics, probably because I love NYU so much and dont wanna face the rejection.

Im not going to re-write my whole resume, but here is what I got:
3.5 UW (90) and a 3.8-3.9 weighted. Going to have 8 AP classes under my belt when I graduate in 2010
I got a 1470/2150 on the SAT I. Have yet to take any SAT II's.
and I have one REALLY unique EC. A mix of business/programming skills. Highlights leadership
I'm also in contact with the NYU Tennis coach, and I'm sending him a video of myself.
idk how much this would help.

anyways, this isnt really a chance thread.
Once again, how large is the selectivity gap between Stern and CAS?

not too large

hthat being said, you have a chance at stern, but you have a GOOD chance at cas. The only thing that worries me are you grades :/

Applying for a major you don't want for the sake of getting in is possibly the dumbest thing you can do - believe me, others have tried it, thinking they can transfer after a year, and failed miserably. If you want Business, do Stern NOT CAS, you might regret it later, then you'll have to transfer, possibly out of NYU.

Econ is NOT Business. Econ is a liberal arts major which teaches you the broad theories and policies of economics. In CAS, you have all the MAP requirements, ConWest, Writing, Foreign Language, etc. Business involves a lot of Applied Econ, but you pick a concentration like Finance, Accounting, Marketing, etc. If you really prefer Business over Econ, apply to Stern. CAS and Stern are both competitive, but Stern is more selective. With your stats, CAS and Stern are both reach schools - I had similar stats, and I got placed in LSP. Stern doesn't place students in LSP btw, they just reject you.

If your heart is set on Business, and you want NYC, I suggest you apply to Fordham CBA as well, you'll probably get in. Good luck :)
