Hello,
I received a C with a 79.8% in my AP Chem class first semester… I worked pretty hard but I just don’t click with the teacher and it was a challenging class for me. Going into second semester this year, I studied very hard for our first test and got a solid C… I am starting to lose hope.
I know you have to notify UC’s if you get 2 C’s, I am afraid but very disappointed in myself; I really gave it my all. UCLA is my first choice college… Am I better off dropping the class entirely?
In other words, is notifying UCLA of 2 C’s after I graduate worse than notifying them of dropping AP Chem now?
I had straight A’s all throughout high school until senior year, if that helps
You have to notify the UC’s if you get a D or F. For UCLA, if you are accepted, you need to maintain a 3.0 unweighted GPA Senior year and no more than 2 C’s.
You have to notify all UC’s if you drop a class and I would not drop unless you contact admissions to make sure it will not have an impact on your UC decisions that come out in March.
If there are changes to your academic record…
Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.
If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes. Although you must notify the campus of these changes, we cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.
