How will a bad semester effect my chances?

I'm a sophomore currently, and I would like to attend UCLA or UCSD. For the past 3 semesters, I've gotten a 4.0 weighted (3.7 unweighted for the first 2 semesters, 3.6 for the third), but this semester I might be getting a 3.9 weighted. The reason it's a bit lower this semester is because I was out for a couple weeks with an injury and missed quite a bit. Other than that, I'm on my school's Public Forum Debate team, my school's Leadership team (We welcome incoming freshman, and kind of serve as their mentors their first year), Sports Medicine, I'm a member of my school's Water Project (and potential President next year) and Future Doctors of America, have ~110 hours of service so far, and I am a lab intern at UCLA over summers. I know GPAs are a big factor for admissions, and I was wondering how much this could effect me (according to Naviance, people who are accepted into UCLA and UCSD from my school typically have a 4.3 weighted).

You already have your answer. You need to bring your grades up to have a chance at those schools.

This is your def’n of a “bad semester”?

The only reason I was wondering was because this didn’t take extracurriculars into account, that was just based on scores only, and I’m not sure how important extracurriculars are compared to GPA

In both cases grades are more important than ECs, as is true of just about every school I know. Grades and scores are very important, ECs important.
