How will a N/P affect my chances of getting into law school?

I'm currently a sophomore at the Univeristy of California, Berkeley. This semester, I missed the deadline to Add/Drop a course - and, my petition to drop the course was denied.

I know for a fact that I will not pass the class.

How will this affect the application process when applying to law school?

What happens if I take the class again?

Much Help.

Thank you

Well that depends on how much you lower your GPA IMO as law school seems to be all numbers based.

i go to uc irvine and we have pass/ no pass options as well. i know for a fact that neither a pass nor a no pass will affect your gpa. you simply don't get course credit if you don't pass. thus, your gpa won't be lowered and your chances for law school would (seem) to remain the same.

Will the failure show up on your transcript? If it does, it will be counted. If you retake the class, the new grade and the F will both be included in he calculation of your LSDAS GPA--not averaged together as one grade as some colleges do it. For a much better explanation, check out www.lsac.org.

It does NOT matter how the college you attend calculates your GPA. The LSDAS does it the same way for everyone.
