I am taking a course that I found out I definitely don't need. My courseload is pretty big this semester and I can still drop with a W. I don't have any Ws and my GPA is 3.9. I am trying to go to Berkeley so obviously I'm still waiting to hear from them. I know that I need to let them know in writing if I drop a class. Will this affect my chance of admission? If so I will plough through but I really don't want to!

Thanks!

borntogrow- you should definitely call admissions @ Cal & ask if there is someone you can speak to about changes in your application (don’t say your name, or at least try not to). If you don’t do that then I would simply drop the course and let them know, since you are taking a large course-load and they will probably & the course isn’t one that you need the W probably won’t matter.

P.S. this is coming from someone who has 6 W’s on their transcript ( I had a bad semester) and a couple tag alongs…admissions counselor’s have told me that W’s are not a huge deciding factor.
