I got an F in geometry during the first semester of my sophomore year. I got an A during the second semester and retook the first semester during junior year and got an A. My grades from freshman year and the first semester of sophomore year aren’t very good. I had mostly B’s with a couple A’s and a few C’s. Junior year I got all A’s. This year (senior year) I think that I will have mostly A’s with one or two B’s. I scored 29 on my ACT. How will that F (and my poor record during the first part of high school) affect my chances of getting admitted to colleges? A few of the colleges that I’m considering applying to are UConn, University of Minnesota, University of Cincinnati, Auburn, Colorado State, and University of Oregon.
I think colleges look at your final grades…not semester grades. Take your GPA and ACT score and put it in the supermatch tool to see if you are likely for those colleges…http://collegeconfidential.com/college_search
Your final grade for each class is sent to the colleges.
My semester grades are on my transcript, so those will be sent to colleges. Those are my final grades.
What’s your GPA?
3.39 GPA
Top half of class (75/160)
I don’t know why people think each end of semester grade would not be looked at. You replaced the F so while it isn’t great, it shouldn’t be a big deal. Sure your inconsistency will be obvious in your overall grades but you showed you got serious Jr year. What math did you have though aside from geometry repeat? I don’t think a lot of schools make you repeat if you passed a higher level math even.
I took Algebra 2 during junior year while retaking Geometry.
