How will dropping a non-academic class affect my chances?

Hi,

I'm a transfer applicant to many ivies and top 20 schools from NYU. I really detest my beginning piano class, and have no motivation to continue. Would it negatively affect my chances if I were to drop the class? I really have no more patience, but if it would, then I will work through it...

Thanks,

Bump please, kinda desperate at this point…

It’s usually best to keep the class instead of dropping it (unless you’re going to severely fail it then that’s a different issue)

I don’t know… I’m pretty certain my professor would not let me get anything higher than a “C”. Would it change the situation considering it’s a 2 credit piano class?

AdComs understand that people drop courses for all sorts of reasons. A W on your transcript, especially for a course outside of your major, is really not a big deal. Moreover, a W during your freshman and sophomore year is common.
