How will i fare

Hi, I'm a sophmore this year, so I am not imediatly looking at college but i have a question. i had a terrible semester this year, where i averaged a 3.492. i averaged a 3.75 as a freshman and usually am around 3.7-3.9. my teachers say i dont try, which is true and im am going to fix that, but im wondering if this will hurt my chances in the long run. i have already taken the ACT and i got a 27 last year as a freshman. I have many extra curricular activities such as acting ,and playing varsity basketball in a state championship program. I am always in the 99th on standerdized tests and i am usually in the top 5 in my class. how bad will this semester hurt me?

I really would like to go to either Notre Dame or Dartmouth at this point, with Upenn and UW madison also up there. Please let me know.

Geoff, I would not worry too much about last semester. Make sure your second Semester and your entire Junior year are as good as you can make them. You have to try your best if you want to get into Dartmouth, Penn or Notre Dame. Wisconsin-Madison is not as selective, but they too have high standards.

The fact that your TEACHERS say that you don't try doesn't help at all as usually these people write letters of recommendation...
