How will my midterm report affect my chances, if at all?

Applied: Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, NYU, Brown, Vanderbilt, Penn
Accepted: Michigan, Michigan State
Rejected: None
Waiting: Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, NYU, Brown, Vanderbilt, Penn

College Stats:
County Community College in MI
Sophomore (will transfer as junior)
GPA: 3.95 (through 66 credits)
ECs: full time school bus driver on route, work in unpaid internship at youth residential facility for youth adjudicated by the court for rehabilitation, volunteer on BoD of youth baseball league, work as a sole supervisor in a youth football league with ~400 kids, cool (“different”) jobs the past two summers that have also caused two gap semesters (with good explanation), couple odds and ends things
Recommendations: 10/10 I’m positive. Didn’t see them but these two have been great to me and both didn’t even let me finish the sentence asking them before agreeing to write a letter.
Essays: Weak spot if there is one in the application. I am a good writer, but after making so many I feel like some minor errors may have slipped through in some supplemental essays. Probably ranges from 7/10 - 9/10 depending on the school.

HS Stats:
Public HS in MI (~330 graduating class)
3.26 GPA
28 ACT (one and only sitting)

I am applying to the Biopsychology or Neuroscience program at the above, or similar depending on programs offered.

We are on mid-winter break this week, but I plan to make the rounds to my professors the week we get back. I am enrolled in 22 credit hours, with the following grades:

Human Anatomy and Physiology I (BIO 2630): A-
Introductory Chemistry (CHE 1000): A
Beginning Spanish II (SPA 1530): A
Mental Health/Social Work (MHA 1414): A
Mental Health/Social Work (MHA 2406): A

Bottom two are a part of a program I am in.

Will the one A- hurt me at all, especially being in biology? The class average is probably a 60% in there for what it’s worth, I’m hoping the professor makes good comments.

Will the overall 3.95 midterm report help? It technically does bring my overall GPA down by like 1/100 of a point, because the A- is an outlier (would be only my 4th since starting college if it stuck through the second half, the other three being in my first semester at the college)

Or will it really be a push?

Asking for midterm report: Brown, Cornell, Penn (optional), Columbia, Vanderbilt (optional), Stanford, Harvard, NYU (optional?)

As a secondary question for those still tuned in, should I send it to those who are optional? I am assuming yes, because it’s far from a “bad” report. Thank you all!

Bump

no… are you serious?

No what? Serious about what?

Genuine question from an anxious applicant of how people thought my midterm report would affect my chances. Sorry if it didn’t come off that way.

Without any sarcasm, an -A will not hurt your chances in the slightest(to the contrary, actually). You’re doing a fantastic job in college and have a very interesting story. I’d encourage you to send that mid-term report. I’m applying to a few of the colleges that you listed, so I hope both of us get in! Good luck!

Thank you @AGoodFloridian ! I appreciate your sincere response. Best of luck to you!!

I’m planning to transfer to a selective school from a community college and I was having trouble in Calculus last semester. I spoke to one of the folks at the school about this and he told me not to worry about it, just don’t fail. I ended with a B+. I wouldn’t worry about it.
