I'm pretty curious about how the new colleges would work at Rice. It seems like the kids in those places would not get the 'full experience'?

ok

There will be 3 sets of people at the new colleges

New freshmen

Ambassadors - specially selected members of other colleges who assist the new colleges

Baker/Will Rice college

Baker and WRC are undergoing renovations. People from there will be living in the 2 new colleges along with the ambassadors, new freshmen.

Should be an interesting experience

Will new freshmen be assigned to Baker and Will Rice and then moved to the new colleges?

no. New freshmen will be assigned to Baker and WRC and the 2 new colleges. They will live in McMurty and Duncan.

the 2 new colleges will have 2 sets of freshmen

baker and WRC (for a yyear) and new members of MCMurtry and Duncan

After this year, the upperclassmen population will slowly be filled in with volunteers from other colleges.

Are the new colleges bigger than the others? How are they going to fit in an existing college (Baker/Rice) and an entire freshman class of another college?

yes, they have approx 400 beds compared to 250 odd at others

So do class of 2013 kids have a chance to get into a new college? Seems like it would be a fun experience

yes they do. There will be a new batch of freshmen in the new colleges every year

you have a 2/11 chance of being in one of the new colleges

Do you think, perhaps, it will house transfers as well??

yes… when I said freshmen I meant incoming class. Transfers will be housed there as well if they get on campus housing
