So, I was just watching the news and they were going on about how the UC's are having record numbers of freshman applicants. Also, I was talking to a councilor at my CCC the other day and she said that the state is cutting funding and it is already effecting who gets into the CSU's. Will that effect the UC's as well? Also, how will the record number of apps effect us transfer students?
I am right on the line (3.0 gpa) and am kind of freaking out right now.
any opinions/ input?

The UC's are public schools, so there's a chance they'll get affected too...However, the articles I've read about that particular cut pointed out K-12 and CC's taking most of the blow. Hopefully, the UC's won't be affected.

Funny, though. I heard that because of the budget cuts, CC's are going to have to become more competitive in order to maintain decent class sizes and unit costs.

But yeah. If there are going to be more budget cuts, that pretty much means more competition as a whole.

hopefully this change is effective '09. >_< and hence, not much too worry about at the moment.

The governors proposal is for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2008. The Legislature will consider the governors budget and make proposals of its own during the spring. The governor and Legislature typically adopt a final state budget in the summer.

The governors proposal does not include mid-year budget cuts for UC in the 2007-08 year.
