I won a competition and first place was an internship at the Air Force Research Labs near my house for the entirety of this past summer. Will this help balance out my poor SAT scores (1710) at a place like NYU or BC (just the first two places to pop into my head)? I’ve got a 4.0 and plenty of volunteer work and other Extracurriculars. My essay and recommendations are very stellar as well. Thanks in advance!
I’m not sure whether it’ll completely balance out your SAT score, but it is certainly a unique and (sounds like) prestigious opportunity that colleges will be interested in and intrigued by. Adding it to your application will definitely with help with admissions in my opinion!!
That sounds super impressive. I’m applying to NYU too, by the way!
from what i’ve heard, NYU doesn’t base its admission decisions solely on SATs or gpa anyway, so your ECs should be great on your app
A 1710 makes NYU or BC close to impossible, regardless of other things.
Why don’t you just retake the SAT?
