How will UCLA/UCB know about the context of my HS?

Before, I thought that my HS would send a school profile to the UCs, describing the competitive nature of it, % of graduates who attend 4 year colleges, AP score distributions, # of APs, etc. However, I read somewhere on here that the UCs don't care about that stuff and don't even receive high school profiles. Is this true? If so, how is it possible to let the UCs know about this, because it seems pretty unfair how a GPA earned in a highly competitive HS that practices grade deflation is compared in the same context as a GPA from a HS where the average GPA is 3.9.

If you are from California, UC’s will know the powerhouse high schools. You are competing to some extent against the other students in your school. however.

I don’t think the UCs care about the quality of your HS. However, most privates college do.

I agree, the UCs know the powerhouse high schools. They actually are more lenient towards kids from bottom tier schools due to poverty, lack of opportunity, etc.

In general, do colleges across the country look at the profile of the High School? I come from an average to below average high school in terms of academics and I’m not sure if that will help or hurt me when colleges look at me.

^ Well depends on how you do overall. I am in the same situation except my school is well below average.

From what I have read, most universities, especially the Ivy Leagues, like high achieving students from deficient high schools. They know we didn’t have the same opportunities as the kids from highly competitive schools, so it was harder for us to remain competitive for a top colleges/universities.

This is incorrect.

This is incorrect, too.
