How will Wharton view attending Wharton LBW?

I'm going to be going to the Wharton Leadership in the Business World program this summer. How does Wharton factor that into its review of my application? Does it help?

Thanks in advance!

I know at least 5 people who were rejected by LBW but got into Wharton, myself included. You have a great shot. Plus, you went to Exeter so I assume that will put you in a good position. Apply early, it REALLY helps.

Thanks for the quick reply platorepublic!
Wow, that’s great news.

Yeah, I’ll most likely apply early to Wharton, but I’m also looking into liberal arts colleges; so maybe I might apply early to Brown?

Hey Exonian 93, how is LBW going for you? I’m planning to attend next year and was wondering if you would provide me with your stats. I also have a few questions about LBW but I’m unable to reach anybody. Do you know of a contact number I could call? Specifically for Anisha Atluri?

Short answer: It doesn’t help, but it’s good information to help you make a decision if you get accepted to Penn later on down the line!

It does help! Trust me, i know a lot of friends who did it and got in, who i believe wouldnt have otherwise. Apply early though

No, it does not help, and this is straight from the mouth of the Administrative Director of M&T (regarding programs like LBW, M&TSI, etc). Attending these programs will not help you leg up into Penn. You get the chance to learn more about certain programs up close and personal to see if they are right for you. You can learn about business, engineering, Penn, etc, before ever choosing to attend if you are accepted. It isn’t demonstrated interest/passion – which is a concept that will be evaluated from your high school profile and essays.

The reason why it may “seem” like it helps is because the pools are fairly self-selective. The kinds of kids who sign up for LBW/M&TSI/etc are generally the types of kids who are more college-savvy and qualified to begin with. But the programs themselves will not help you get in. This has been stated explicitly and so any word to the contrary is just speculative opinion.

I want to apply to the 2011 LBW. Any suggestions?

I am taking the SATs on January 22nd but do you think omitting them (if they’re not above 2200) would be better or should I send them in anyways?

What were your grades/scores?

Thanks!
