I initially approached my essay for my Rutgers application without much hesitation. The question is relatively straightforward:

"Rutgers University is a vibrant community of people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. How would you benefit from and contribute to such an environment? Consider variables such as your talents, travels, leadership activities, volunteer services, and cultural experiences. Only personal essays submitted via our website will be considered. You may enter a maximum of 3800 characters including spaces."

I was wondering exactly though what the question meant. I originally intended to write about specific programs at Rutgers, specifically the Honors Program, but I'm beginning to see that it's more of a personal essay. Is this a typical "Why School" essay or something more? Furthermore, would it be wise for me to highlight the opportunities of the Honors College in my essay, or will that come out as cocky? Honors admission is automatic and based off a specific class percentile and SAT cut-off, and I am way above the mark on both of those criteria.
