Optimist view: Hopefully none of you college hopefuls out there will have to deal with a crushing rejection.
Pessimist view: Here you can validate your agony.
Realist view: With college admission rates lower than ever this year, even those with perfect scores, a laundry list of extracurriculars, and multiple national awards may be facing rejection from the college of your dreams. Shrug off rejection eventually, but know that's its okay to indulge in a few moments of self-pity before moving on and making yourself fall in love with a safety school.

So, post how you would deal with rejection. With a bit of humor, we can all count down the dreadful last moments until all decisions are out. I am anxiously awaiting Thursday, and after 5pm may be:

a.) curled on my bathroom floor with a bottle of vodka and a volume of Sylvia Plath
b.) lying under the covers with screamo music blasting from my stereo until i can no longer hear
c.) sitting numb in front of my laptop with my email open, in a catatonic state with silent tears dripping down my face.

What will it be for you?

After I was rejected from MIT, I spent the next ~9 hours in a stupor, mostly curled up in bed or mindlessly staring at the anime playing on my computer screen.

Maybe not as dramatic as your scenarios, but it gets the job done. :P

(Luckily, I got into CMU SCS yesterday, so no crushing despair will result from a Stanford rejection because I have a really awesome school to fall back on. <3)

I got my rejection letter from Santa Clara in the morning yesterday before school. I bawled my eyes out at home before school, when I was driving to school (which is really not good) and just moped around during school. It was bad.

In all honestly, the only reason I was so bummed was that my friend who had a lower gpa, sat score and not as good ec’s as I have got in, which I still don’t understand…

But then I realized, that I never really wanted to go to Santa Clara in the first place. I’ll be stuck in California for another four years and it’s just hot and sunny there all the time… apart from the ranking nothing about the school really interested me.

And then I realized that SCU doesn’t even have the major I want to major in! (international business) so yeah… Not so bummed anymore :)
