How will you?

How will you contribute to our university/community?I know it is an easy essay topic but I find it really hard. What kind of contribution?Social activities,Athletics or Diversity. What am I supposed to write?Just saying that ,I wanna do this I wanna do that, is kinda lame.If you can,plz give me a link containing a sample essay so that I can know what it is like.

This is a question about you in the scope of the university, not really just about you. Its asking essentially, why do you want to go here, and why do you want us to take you?

The answer should include a discussion of (one) of the following: activities/ programs/ atmosphere, at the college that draw you in. Why it draws you in (include specific details (never say something like the honors program seems nice, always back a statement like that up with something). And finally (what should be the emphasis of your essay), what you would do to be a part of/ try and improve the particular program.

Think of an essay like this as your opportunity to tell the college exactly where you want to fit in (to the best of your knowledge). By defining a particular niche, you are no longer being compared to the rest of the student body, you are being compared to other people that also want to be in the same niche as you.

Hope this was helpful.

It is best to look up specific clubs, groups, or activities that exist at the school that correlate to your interests and abilities. Then you write about how you plan to contribute. If you are an outgoing, social person you can write about how someone like you brings different personalities together and encourages social cohesiveness. If you like sports, write about how you plan to support the teams at the school. If you are a writer, start or contribute to the campus literary journal. If you are an inquisitive student, write about how valuable your natural curiosity is in classroom discussions. If you have a long history of community service, talk about a campus service organization you can help. It can be anything. Figure out your strengths and write about them. This is a great opportunity to show how good of a fit you are with the school, so make sure to emphasize the traits they are looking for. Sorry I do not have any links, but I bet you can find some examples online somewhere.

If you want to see an essay I wrote for this prompt, just PM me with your email address (It has some formatting–aka italics–that PMing deletes). It’s not a be all end all, but I think it should give you a (hopefully good) example of a “different” way to answer the prompt.
