The scholarship I am looking at getting has an average ACT score of 32. On this last October ACT, I got a 31.25. Do colleges break down scores and look at them like this? For example would a college look at a 31.25 (31) vs a 31.5 (32) as extremely comparable or do they just look at scores without rounding (31 vs 32).

How did you get a composite score that isn’t a round number? I don’t believe it’s even possible to get an ACT score that has a percentage attached.

dan - I don’t think anyone here will know your answer. Unless, they work in
the actual dept awarding the particular scholarship you are looking at. My ‘guess’
would be that they just look at the composite number, unless for example, it is
a math scholarship, then they might look at the math subscore. But remember,
if the average is a 32, then some are higher and some are lower. Good luck to you.

mom - he is just adding up his 4 subscores and dividing by 4 to get 31.25. If
he had gotten 31.5, the composite would have rounded to 32. So close…

I was lucky and got a 32.5 which rounded to a 33. I am not sure… I think they’ll break the subscores down which benefit you but it’s up to their discretion

Dan you are right in the middle of the pack score wise. What else do they look at ? Gpa or ec’s ? Are you strong in those areas. They will look at the entire set of criteria. If you are strong in those areas then I would say you are probably doing good.

Op since this is one college, email and ask if they superscore. They may not. If they do superscore ask if they round the numbers. Seems fairly straightforward.
