How would colleges look at this?

Would colleges believe it if I were to say "I take APs for the challage". This is honestly the truth. I took them because I felt being in a honors course was way to slow and I went straight to APs since freshman year. Taking BIO 9th and Chem 10th. Without ANY of the pre-requisites. We used Campbell 7th edition for Bio and Chang 10th edition for Chem. The tests for Bio were from the book I assume because from What I remember (it's been 2 years) the tests were very "Professional Looking". I'm sure you know what I mean if you've taken APs. Chemistry was a different story, tests were a mix of book questions and hand made questions from what I remember. I left that school so I can't really ask.

Anyways, I took the classes seriously and got As all year on them (Bio I got a B first quarter because I didn't expect so much work and reading from APs) I truly enjoyed the courses and I wouldn't mind taking them again, especially at my new school where I can actually do the LABS!

Either way, I was stupid and thought that the final exams were a fluke. I didn't prepare for them at all, a bit for chemistry but that was mainly for a competition at FGCU a few months before.

I want to re-take these exams and self-study them and try to get a better score, which I know is entirely possible for me. But would it look bad? I don't want to take the exams to get credit mind-you, I much rather get credit for courses like History and take science again in college, but rather to show colleges that I can do it. Plus have fun with new friends studying and helping them with HW :D

How does taking these courses and not including AP scores reflect on me? Do colleges see these Scores regardless? How about re-taking the exams? I wish I could re-take these classes in my new school with my friends next year when they take them. (They take 1 or the other)

Might as well ask here about this too: Can I take next year Calc BC and skip AB? Is it possible to take Physics 2 and C next year also? Both at the same time? Finally, What semester AP courses are available except economics (Micro/Macro).

Thanks for reading guys, and before you mention it... Yes I was told i received a 4 on AP BIO exam when I came back sophomore year, but considering I didn't prepare- I want to get a 5 for my new school really bad now :D

No, just no. Bad idea! Don’t retake AP exams unless you fail and want credit. AP scores have little to no bearing on admissions. They are self reported on the common app, but as a general rule all scores >= 3 should be reported. Colleges will not care that you retook the exam and scored a 5- in fact, it probably will reflect negatively on you because it will only make you look score obsessed.

As for calculus, it depends on your school. The way college board designed the classes, AB is calc 1 and BC is calc 1 and 2. The BC exam includes an AB subscore. However, some high schools only teach calc 2 as BC, so you would need to take AB if that is the case.

Taking Physics 2 and C next year is completely worthless- take one or the other. They cover more or less the same material, but C uses calculus. It would look odd on your course list and be a waste of time. If you’ll be in calculus, you should probably take physics C.

Semester AP courses completely depend on your school, no one here can answer that. Schools get to decide how long they take to cover the material.

Thanks for replying. I appreciate the info. I’ll talk to my school about calculus because my friends here all are taking Calc BC next year (this school offers you to take 2 math sat once in freshman year to get ahead). I am willing to do what I need to to be in class with them.

On the basis of retaking tests, I am not obsessive over scores at all. Just thought getting a 5 on Chem and Bio would look better for me and the school.
