Over the summer, I went to a basketball camp for several years. This year I’m volunteering there as one of the advisors of the camp instead of a member. Would I fill one EC space and just write advisor for this year or do two seperate(one for volunteering this summer and one for just doing it the last few years)? The hours/week is also a little different(8 hrs/week as member, ~15 hrs/week as volunteer) so there’s that too. I don’t want to take up multiple spaces if these essentially count as the same thing but they doing a camp vs volunteering at one seems different to me. What would I do?
I’d probably make it one EC entry and find a middle estimate for hours, etc. Those little details aren’t game-changing anyway.
Make it one EC space. In the title (space permitting of course) write something like: “Adviser (2016), Member (2014-15), Basketball Camp Name” and then use the description to explain the camp and what you did as an adviser/volunteer. Estimate the average number of hours.
If you find later that you haven’t filled up all the EC spaces, then you can make them two separate entries if you find yourself really needing space.

This is a bit of an add on question but I have done something similar with tennis, however along with the tennis camp(member/advisor), I do varsity tennis and on a club team between girls and boys season. Would all of that go under “tennis” or would that be something I should somehow split up?
If they are through different organizations (which they sound like they are from your post), I would make two entries. One for the tennis camp member/advisor, and another for Varsity/Club tennis. But just like your basketball entries, if you need space for other ECs, you can always combine them later. That’s just my opinion though, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter how you choose to split them up.
@class0f2017 - that’s up to you. Those could be separate line items, but if you have tons of ECs and want to squeeze them all in, you could also put them both under the “Tennis” heading and cram an explanation into the provided space.
