How would someone answer this question satisfactorily? Should they talk about their experiences, ECs, or other stuff?</p>

<p>Well I would say you should know why a college should accept you over other applicants, if you don’t know it yourself then I don’t see how colleges are going to find that out.</p>

<p>Maybe you should talk a bit about everything that stands out in your character, EC’s… or mayb you should talk about something that makes YOU stand out from the crowd, you know?</p>

<p>I think what exist was trying to say is that there will never be several thousand applicants from a single country. The college would accept you because you filled out an application and the other people in your country did not.</p>

<p>On the other hand, aisgzdavinci’s question is a good one to ask oneself. While you won’t have to compete against several thousand applicants, there will most likely be several other applicants from your home country. And I agree with ajayc that if you cannot answer "why should I be admitted over other applicants " yourself, the colleges you are applying to are unlikely to find it out on their own.</p>

<p>Its a vague question. really. And yes there wont be thousand of applicants from a single country. Though level of competition may differ for internationals, what adcom look in application remains basically the same…they will look at everything you provide them: scores, achievements, money (if you need finaid, a reason why they should give you aid - hooks, scores or anything) , personal qualities(essay)…and so on. Then they accept a certain number of best applicants from the pool; best in terms of achivements and personal qualities. And that’s it. But i think you already know all this. Your 1200+ post suggests that. Even if you didnt, then take my words: dont think process is more complicated for internationals</p>
