How would this decision look for college admissions?

I'm in my senior year of high school. I'm taking 3 AP classes, 2 honors classes, and 1 college course.

I think I have a very good shot at being accepted to the college I'm most interested in.

I'm taking WAY more classes than I can handle currently, and I don't think I can get higher than 85ish in any of them (which isn't TOO bad for AP classes). However, I have decided I'm going to drop one of them, as the course load is too much, especially for my senior year (which is supposed to be the most fun year).

Would it look better to keep the 3 AP classes, but then drop them after the first term ends, or to drop the class now so colleges will never even know that i took it (and dropped it) at all?

In other words: what looks better to colleges: taking a very hard class, getting an 80 in it, and then dropping it after the first term, or not even taking the class at all?

This is my guess: A B in an AP class is better than an A in a regular class. However, an A in an honors class is better than a C in an AP class. Most high schools will let a student drop down from an AP class to an honors class. If you need to do it so you can handle the work, go ahead.

drop it now, don’t let the colleges know you took it. they might interpret it as you giving up too easily.
