How would you about doing research?

<p>I am a high school senior from around the bay. This summer, I kind of want to get some hands on experience in the field of research (and possibly get published). How would I go about doing this? </p>

<p>I would really prefer to not get teacher reqs because i feel awful I already asked them to mail out 15 letters. Last year, I tried contacting so many professors and companies around my area and really didnt have much luck. I also applied to formal internships but got rejected. </p>

<p>How do you guys get started with research?</p>
