I was just wondering how you guys/girls would handle telling your parents/parent that you want to go to college out of country, and how do you think they would react?

Oh god, it’d be so terrible. My mom doesn’t even me want me to leave the city, much less the country. I live in Northern California and she won’t even change her mind about me going to college in Southern California. Out of the country? She’d go ballistic. It would be an instant no.

Would you let your mom sway your decision?

Maybe. Family means a lot of to me, I don’t think I could function without daily interaction. But that’s just me. But knowing my mom, she will eventually have to let me go, y’know? I can’t be her baby forever hahaha. Although I know I said that she wouldn’t let me live in LA, I know it’s just right now, but as college comes closer and closer, I know she’ll be accepting of the decisions I’ll make. =) Maybe she’s just scared that I’ll forget about her or something, lol
.

I’d just say I was considering colleges in country x or y. I don’t think my parents would have been super happy about it but they still would have let me apply, and go there if I really really wanted to.

My parents are trying to force me to go to school in a different country, so they would probably throw me a party and buy me a new car if I expressed my agreement to their plan. Which I’m not ever going to do, unless I get rejected by every decent American school I apply to.
