I'm speaking mainly about Princeton. I plan to do it in the interview if I get one, but if I don't, I'm not sure how I should do it. & I know that about 70% of students change their major at P-ton, but the problem is that I applied as an Engineering major & I want to study International Relations with a minor in Astrophysical sciences and this is also more representative of my ECs and my academic strengths. (plus I'm have an awful AP chem teacher & hate the class & therfore cannot possibly do well in it). So I don't want them to look at my chem background and think I'm not qualified for the engineering program b/c I very likely will not even study it. Plus, at the time that I wrote my app, I pretty much put all of my major choices and all of my top certificate choices as engieerning related things so I'm afraid I might have set myself up for immediate rejection because I thought I was oh-so-confident at the time. Thanks for any advice you may have to offer me.

Most schools want to know your intended major just so they can kind of get a sense of what you want to do, but they understand that your plans can change. Honestly, it’s not a big deal. Mention it at the interview if you feel so inclined, but there’s not reason to contact the school and make a big deal about it. Unless you had to apply to a specific school or something, in which case you should contact the school. I’m sure tons of kids change their major from what they originally put on their app. And they’re not going to reject you for changing your mind on major.

Ok, good. & Princeton seemed lenient about switching to BA from BSE, which is one more reason to love it.
