How would you rank admissions factors?

True...i see what you mean.

But i think that if colleges see somebody who wants to become a vet, has an incredible essay about animal experiences, has been working/volunteering/spending their summer doing things oriented towards becoming a vet (this is example of a friend of mine), and then see SAT scores in the range of 2100s, the ecs will IMO compensate for and even add to the SAT scores...

what does IMO mean? sorry, about that. Thanks for understanding. I just get frustrated. I hate all the game playing!

In my opinion...:)

Thanks. Good luck with your college admissions.

Thanks...ditto

If there is no class rank SAT scores+AP/IB become more important than high school grades and curriculum.

high school transcript ~ rank, course selection

standardized testing: SAT, ACT, AP, IB

extracurriculars ~ leadership, involvement, & awards (ties to academic strengths, i.e. research)

essays/recs - I'd say these two are equally important, essays to gauge personality and recs for confirmation of trends in the above 3

interview- a very distant fifth

*standardized testing is used to confirm the HS transcript and the essays (compare with SAT essay)

Oh, be careful...that is dangerous territory! Comparing the SAT essay and the application essays! Many colleges acknowledge how anti-pedagogical the SAT essay is - and the actual essays are supposed to be by far better, since we are working on them for so long!
