With its open curriculum and its reputation for having the happiest students, Brown offers a distinctive difference. I think it’s the best possible choice for non-conformist or self-directed learners. Their S/NC system (i.e., pass/fail) option is also great, on a limited basis, for the student who tends to regularly overload his academic plate because everything just tastes so-o-oo good.

Penn is the fastest rising ivy league due to its past two presidents. 30 years ago, it wasn’t respected as an ivy at all. The school has taken a turn since then and has made great investments and has continued to improve its image. Its endowment is behind harvard yale princeton. The princeton vs penn rivalry is growing every year so eventually it could be like the rivalry between harvard and yale. In 50 years, you could see penn easily ranking as one of the top ivy leagues.

Just my preferences…
Harvard/Yale
Princeton/Columbia
Penn/Dartmouth/Brown
Cornell
I dunno much about them though… I am just going by what I have heard.
