How would you rank the UC's?

Here are the new UC rankings for 2011 with the brand new campus that’s opening up

“Professor Bryant educating his students.” Hahaha that coupled with the music is just too much. Btw, I love the Lakers as much as anyone else, but Durant was doing the educating tonight.

seems like UCI isn’t getting any love on these rankings

For me:

1.UCLA
2.UCB
3.UCI
4.UCSD
5.UCSB
6.UCD
7.UCSC
8.UCR
9.UCM

I give UCI props for adding an undergrad business program. I suspect they’ll move up in the rankings soon.

1.UCB
2.UCLA
3.UCSD
4.UCI
5.UCD
6.UCSB
7.UCSC
8.UCR
9.UCM

Prestige/Academics:

UCB/UCLA
UCSD
UCD/UCI
UCSB/UCSC
UCM
UCR

Other aspects:

UCLA
UCSC/UCSB
UCD
UCB
UCSD
UCI
UCM/UCR

In regards to UCM, what else are we supposed to rank on besides reputation and maybe a visit to the campuses? I personally think UCM has a beautiful campus (albeit a bit isolated) and lots of potential. However, as of right now, it only offers about 20 undergraduate majors and is pretty unestablished in terms of research, etc. It’ll likely move up in rankings in the future, but for right now, it’s at the bottom of my list compared with all the other UC’s (well I might go there over UCR) and compared with where I’d want to attend school if I were to pick any one of them today.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking of World Universities 2008
The Institute of Higher Education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China publishes rankings of universities internationally. The rankings are based on several indicators of academic or research performance, including major international awards won by alumni or staff, highly cited researchers, articles published in selected top journals and articles indexed by major citation indexes. In the 2008 rankings, seven UC campuses ranked among the top 50 in the world, public and private.

UC Berkeley (3)
UCLA (13)
UC San Diego (14)
UC San Francisco (18)
UC Santa Barbara (36)
UC Irvine (46)
UC Davis (48)

U.S. News & World Report America’s Best Colleges 2009

UC Berkeley remains the No. 1 public university in the country as ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the magazine’s 2009 America’s Best Colleges guide. Six UC campuses ranked among the top 15 public national universities and three UC campuses made the magazine’s “up-and-coming schools” list - UC Riverside, UC Irvine and UC San Diego. (Private institutions represented the top 20 slots in the U.S. News list of best national universities as its methodology incorporates such factors as “faculty resources,” “financial resources” and “alumni giving.”)

Campus Public universities rank All universities rank

^Those rankings are outdated

As a freshman applicant (especially noting this years admissions):
UCB/UCLA
UCSD/UCD
UCI
UCSB/UCSC
UCR
UCM

As a transfer applicant (non-TAG):
UCB/UCLA
UCSD/UCD
UCI/UCSB
UCSC
UCR/UCM

Everyone seems to agree who the top five UCs are (who are amidst the best public schools in the World)
It’s almost common sense now.

UC Irvine

UC Merced.

everyone else…

I am biased since i attend irvine, but since my first day here ive been getting asked to do research, and the financial aid office is constantly throwing scholarships my way, the professors are great and academically its quite easy to find someone who knows the answer to your question…

I ranked uc merced second since… i got love for that school, and there is no published organization that has ranked it.

CAL

Cal

Berkeley

UC Berkeley

UCBerkeley

UCB

BERKELEY

UCLA

UCLA

I chortled. lol.

All of the UC’s are great values and provide their graduates many opportunities. One note, UC Merced is relatively new and is still awaiting its initial accreditation by the agency that accredits most of the western universities (WASC). But early reports bode well for UCM attaining accreditation.
