Well? Do you think people are generally friendly? Hostile? Helpful? Spiteful? Shameful? Kind? Nice? Mean? Ignominious? Condescending? Belligerent? Scornful? Rancorous? Unkind? Stupid? Arrogant? Humble? Losers? No-lifers? Respectful? Ill-mannered? Idiotic? Self-centered? Smart? Intelligent? Hypocrites? Unfair? Disloyal? Liars?

Yeah, I used a lot of patterns and synonyms, but you get the idea.

What do you think of the general kindness level of CCers?

If you were to rate it out of 1-10 (1 being CCer's are absolutely hateful and 10 being that CCer's are the epitome of kindness), what would you say?

For me, my experiences so far have been really nice. Everyone's been helpful and a lot of my questions have been cleared up. Not to mention, CCer's gave me good advice on any of my dilemmas. Also, I get good motivation, ranting space, and lots of insight from others.

So I give it an 8.5.

What about you?

(And again, I feel that this thread has been made before...)

Some people are huge colossal dicks, but most people are somewhat helpful.

I think the worst thing about CC is that a lot of people, myself included, throw out completely unsubstantiated conjectures. For example, I hate when people make comments regarding XYZ school's social life, parties, girls, etc... when they've never even been to that school, let alone the state where the school is located.

O god, stop being such drama queens and grow up. Life isn't all 'let's be friendly all the time', life is challenging: telling someone the truth without sugar-coating it isn't hostile, it's honesty and a lesson in life.

I wouldn't go so far as to brand my line of reasoning as "truth," but it bothers me that some people will completely ignore the logic of my arguments if they dislike me or the way I express myself.

Logic of your arguments? Let me see, what was it that you said again... that Providence is definitely NOT more cosmopolitan than Amherst, Massachusetts. And somebody who desires social life should definitely be attending a Community College (GASP!) instead of a school like Brown or Amherst.

Well, it isn't, I visited Providence twice and Amherst once. IMO, anyway.
And, by "social life," I was talking about traveling OUT OF TOWN to have a good time EVERY DAY. I would hang out in the town of Amherst nearly every day, because it's a great place to be, but I wouldn't exactly go out to Boston, which is an hour and half away, every day, to have an active social life.

i think CCers are 8 because so far everyone's been pretty nice to me, especially the parents are really nice, and like the people who give advice when there's actually no motive for them to do it and they're just doing it out of kindness

sometimes people are a little arrogant but they're still basically good people and maybe its just becuase they're stressed? anyway i like how theres so many smart people here who you can talk to about things other than everyday conversation

The politico threads in the Parents Forum can get pretty heated. Also, I've found that some "senior members" cant take being corrected - it offends them.

Some of the mod's are strict, but on the whole, they're fair and very helpful in answering specific questions.

Ahh, so there isn't THAT much variety in the ratings (so far), which is a good thing. Generally the ratings are skewed upwards, which is nice.

Another reason I like CC is because no one really tries to screw you over when you ask for advice and/or ways to make your resume look nice and etc.

i would say that the majority are extremely nice, especially the students who attend the college i am asking about. But there are always the kids who enjoy acting like they know everything, and the parents who just go on to brag about their kids.
