is this a question?
shop. duh. :P

Chiptole .

I'd take my $500 and give it to a mercenary to steal the $500 all you guys have before you can spend it. I win.
$500 is so small it's of almost no importance. I'd probably go to a "dance" club or something with some friends and have a blast.

Of no importance? Hardly. I wouldn't spend it in one day like that.

I'd probably just put it in the bank and forget about it for 50 years.

Figure if someone is making 35K post tax - they could spend $500 on a whim and have no ill regrets.

35k post tax is nothing--i highly doubt someone in that income bracket is "spending $500 on a whim"

Are you kidding? What does it take to you to live? I figure I could probably live on 15K post tax. Rent+utilities, insurance, cell, gasoline, internet, food. Ummm, that means 20K/year disposable income. Literally, that equates to not saving a paycheck. Easily done.

Yeah, I'm going to have to say "no" to that Payne. It's simply not plausible.

So many unexpected expenses. Get married? Tack on some more money. Have kids? Diapers, bottles, etc. cost a lot. Then, when they get older, they'll want you to buy them all sorts of stuff.

OP's Question:
How would you spend your first $500?
So saving isn't even an option here. Plus, it makes the thread more fun if you actually hypothetically spend it.

So here I go:
$200 - IKEA
$5 - Pinkberry
$295 - J. Crew

Isn't this thread about your "first" $500 dollars? Seems like that would be the absolute low point in your expenses.
