How?

Alright, I'm in absolute shock right now. I don't even know what to think.
I was just rejected.

33 ACT (35 English, 34 Math, 33 Reading, 29 Science)
3.85 GPA
Top 5%

I have prepaid tuition to the college that I bought when I lived in Florida. I now live in NY. I don't know how this happend. I am just speechless. I'm not trying to be cocky atall, it is just that out of everyone I've seen, I thought I would get in. How did this even happen.

I'M INSTATE! I bought prepaid college when I lived in Florida. I then moved to NY. When I called the admissions office, they said I would be considered IS for admission purposes. I'm beyond depressed. I'm not going to go to college.

Their average admitted GPA is 4.0 to 4.3, so I would say that’s probably how. And their decisions are always a bit random, so that doesn’t help.

I’m feeling the same way. I have 3.8 and 2260 SAT, so I’m not shocked, but if I’d had to guess, I would have thought I was going to get in.

Remember that it is much tougher to get in to UF if you live out of state. There is always an appeal process if you want to contemplate that. Your stats are excellent… I think being out of state right now hurt you. No, it isn’t fair.

You apply anywhere else in FL?

They admit 3% OOS (don’t quote me on that).

Unlucky man… Hopefully you get into UVA!

No, my GPA is a 3.85 u/w. On a 5.0 scale, my gpa is a 4.5. And I’m instate. Though I live in NY, I called the admissions office and they said that I’m considered IS because I bought pre-paid tution. This is like a nightmare.

I just got accepted with a 31 ACT oos 4.3 gpa. Curious to know why you didnt?
Essay/extracurriculars?

Well, you should’ve applied to more than one FL school. Never put all your eggs in one basket. Moreover, UF’s admissions process is known to be a bit random, so yeah.

I did apply to more than one FL school? I don’t know where I said I didn’t. If I don’t get into FSU…

Wow. I’m shocked if your in state. That doesn’t make any sense at all… Damn bro, feel sorry for you. Honestly. That sucks.

Sorry Regina and UVA, I feel for you!
But better things are to come, you have gotten into good schools either way, so now it is time to appreciate who wants you, who gives you a chance!
Good luck guys.
I’m also OOS, so I am not surprised I didn’t get in, I was warned. I’ll spend my 25 dollars of housing to myself!

I’m honestly about to cry. UF was going to be my fallback once I’m denied from UVA and the Ivies. Now I’m beyond screwed. If I don’t get into FSU I’m going to community college…

Community college isn’t so bad. I’m sure it will all work out. I’m not sure how good of an idea it was to have UF as your “fallback” though, lol.

rawkoo, with my stats you wouldn’t consider UF a safety? Maybe because I live in NY and know almost no one who has applied to UF. Was it foolish for me to expect acceptance?

I’m going to call the admissions office and ask what happened. I feel like this is a bad dream I will never wake up from.

Who told you that you would be treated as in state for admissions purposes? Do you have it in writing? The application has a lengthy instate certification. What did you enter in that area? Also in state is determined by where your parents live. Call admissions and speak to an actual admissions representative and not just the person answering the phone. I think you may have been treated as out of state for admissions purposes.

No, but it may have been foolish to consider yourself a shoo-in at Florida’s top public school.

[UF Admissions](Freshman - How To Apply - University of Florida)

There is more to an application than test scores and a GPA.

That is very true rawkoo. I mean I had EC’s and stuff aswell. I really just can’t believe it though.

UVA i thought i saw somewhere else that you got into Boston College and Michigan?

How are you in-state? You live in NY.
