How?

I'm not saying that this is certain at every college, but I'm sure most colleges have a students into drugs. But what if one is a roommate/roommates with a drug addict? How should one deal with that?

I'm just concerned because I know drug addicts are at every college, and I don't want to join them.

LOL

just because a roomie is a druggie does not mean you will somehow become a druggie. There will be pressures but ultimately it is up to you to put up the road blocks and say “NO”.

Consider it a test.

just envision the following if you’re face to face with a drug:

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
!!!

Weren’t you paying attention in D.A.R.E.?

I wasn’t either. I think there was something about a talking dog. Clearly, those people were already high.

My DARE had a rabbit and a bee.

I still remember the part with the bee: “smoke this or I won’t be your friend anymore!”

I lived with roommates that all got ‘high’ for a semester. They pressured me numerous times to try it with them. I never did. Just stand by your convictions. Act cool about saying ‘no’ in a subtle, cool, gentle type of way.

Or you could always resort to telling on them .If you really are that low; you could tell on them. Obviously they can’t do drugs in the dorms, etc.

GEEZ I had to take DARE 3 times. I learned too much about drugs it seems. lol.

people do it, if you don’t want to they won’t make you. Why would they? Weed costs money. Alot of my friends have druggie friends as do I, but we weren’t forced to try drugs or anything.

If it gets to be a huge problem, I suppose you could always request a roommate change…I mean, it’s not the best recourse, but if you really think having a druggie roommate will result in your taking drugs, too, I suppose it’s the better choice.

I got in a lot of trouble for my grade 5 D.A.R.E “what did you learn” essay. Nothing, zilch, nadda, you’ve wasted my precious history class time, now ■■■■.

Half the stuff they tell you in DARE isn’t true anyways.

As long as you’re adamant about not doing drugs, I’d imagine it won’t be a problem.

Nah, dude, if you want to be a square and not have any fun, you can totally do that.

my roommate last year did everything in the book. always came back to room blazed and confused. soooo annoying.

my roommates drug use never affected me except for making me think she was stupid because i wondered how she got any work done when i’ve NEVER seen her study, just talk on the phone about trying shrooms, but it’s not a problem unless you make it one.

and when you say “I’m not saying that this is certain at every college, but I’m sure most colleges have a student into drugs”…it’s not a student, more like 75% of the student population. it’s common.

No one is going to force you to do drugs. Those videos are absolute crap. I’ve never heard anyone give an ultimatum.

Much more typical is that if you say “no” the friend will shrug and say “okay”.

There apparently is a girl at my school (I think) who is a drug dealer but is a straight A premed student with a scholarship. O_O apparently drugs don’t affect everybody the same.
