Howard BS/MD 2014

Has any one else decided or applied to Howard University BS/MD program?

Does anyone know much about profile of admitted students, percentage of admittance, what the school looks for in its applicants etc?

If you are applying or have applied could you post your stats? ACT/SAT scores, GPA and EC?

Come on guys, has any one applied or is it only me?

Messaged you.

Hi, you are not alone…I am an overseas school senior graduated in Dec 2013 from High school in Australia. I am offered the BS program (biology) and invited to apply for the BS/MD program from the centre of pre-professional studies. I am offered the Capstone scholarship for BS but await the BS/MD admission decision…so we have to wait until such time and I am sure many students with high credentials would have also applied for this accelerated medical program which is highly regarded. Have a great day.

hi @aswini did get any information about interview notification fo bs/md Howard.? or already you finished you interview? pl share information, that would be great and thanks

Hey all, I contacted them today and they said that we get replies back at April 7.

Thanks OmarElk for the update. I was informed that the medical school can select up to 20 for the BS/MD program. They would not give out last years stats for admitted students or any other information. They did inform me that if you received a scholarship, the scholarship can be used for the first two years of medical school. This is huge because you would only have to pay for the last two years of medical school plus the summer courses. Since I have the Founders Scholarship, if I get accepted into this program, I will only have to pay for the last two years of medical school. Imagine getting a medical degree for under $80K. The typical medical degree costs about $300K.

Thank you OmarElk pl keep update. and pl post it when get interview call. thanks in advance.

Just received the following email from Howard Med School :

Dear Prospective Student,

The Center for Preprofessional Education has received your BS/MD program application documents. Your file is complete and now being reviewed by the program committee.

By April 7, 2014 you will receive (1) of two decisions letters:

1) An invitation for an interview or

2) A letter suggesting you follow the tradition four year path.

Thank you for your interest in Howard University’s Accelerated Program, If you have questions you can contact the Center for Preprofessional Education, College of Arts & Sciences via email at hu.preprofessional@gmail.com.

thanks ripak14. best wishes fo you.

Does anyone know if Howard did interview internationls via Skype because he/she could not make it to travel to US?I find that they are very slow in responding to your mails? Do others experience the same with Howard?

@aswini,@saidurga, have you heard anything about howard interview?

Hi All

I did receive the same letter rlpak14 posted. I have Capstone scholarship but have not received nay information as yet for the interview. I am from Australia and have the same issue of not being able to travel to US if I get an interview. I sent a request to the Centre for Pre-Professional education requesting if they would allow a SKYPE interview but they have not responded. I am in a Biomed Science course in the first semester and afraid that I will miss some quizzes and tests if I travel to the US…

Have you received or anyone received interview offer yet for the BS/MD program? Please share. Thanks

Have you received the interview yet? Please update. I tried to contact the centre and they advised that it will be informed to all applicants from 7th afternoon onwards. Considering there may not be hundreds of applicants for this program, I expect that it will be known in a day or two at the maximum. Let us know once you hear from them regarding the interview please. Thanks

hmmm…more wait! I am advised by the centre for pre-professional education that the decision letter has been mailed to Australia. Is this the case for US students? I expected that it would be by e-mail. I am afraid that it will be in the negative…a successful applicant will attend the interview so it would have been sent through e-mail. Any takers here please as this room has gone QUIET for a while???

I contacted them 2 days ago and I was told i would be notified by email. I haven’t received anything yet though, let’s just keep waiting…

Latest update: letters were mailed this past Monday and we should receive them no later than Friday. Good luck to all!!!

Did anyone receive letters?

I received interview notification today! Did anyone else?
