I just applied to this merit scholarship for WashU on January 15. I was wondering if there was anyone else who applied for it and wanted to share some thoughts? Or if anyone has been admitted to this program and can describe what it’s like? I’m excited because there aren’t many writing scholarships/programs like this one out there and this was one of the main reasons why I applied to WashU
son applied and also to the history merit scholarship. I know you probably were hoping to hear from another student. I agree with you it sounds unique.
I applied to the Howard Nemerov Writing Scholars Program as well! I actually really enjoyed writing the supplemental essays, they were quite refreshing compared to other college application supplements. Hopefully there will be good news awaiting us in a couple of weeks!
By any chance, do you know how many people are chosen for this scholarship?
Didn’t receive the scholarship! Did anyone on here get it?
@shadyconcepts I’m a finalist for the scholarship. Completely unexpected!
congrats @celloitsme !!
Hello, applicants! And congrats to those who are finalists!
There are ten spots each year. Interviews are usually held in mid to late March, though some occur in April. If you’re a finalist and you receive the scholarship, you’ll likely find out at the end of the interview.
The program is popular, and the students are a tight knit community of talented writers. Should you receive the scholarship, prepare yourself to be part of a family.
If you’ve got any questions about the scholarship, fire away.
@commanderkeen42 congrats on getting this scholarship. Son just admitted RD to wash univ and applied for the scholarship but didn’t get it. Are you aware if students can try out again sophomore year?
You can only apply as an incoming freshman.
