@JAMCAFE OMG, that takes us out too! I didnt fill out the FAFSA because I know we dont qualify for any aid.I was at least counting on full tuition, as we can afford room and board out of pocket.
Howard is also off of my list as well.
Went to a Financial Aid Workshop that was led by an employee of the US Dept. of Education and their suggestion was to fill out the FAFSA even if you don’t think you qualify for aid. Many schools utilize this information even for merit based scholarships and you won’t be able to get even those scholarships without it. And at the end of the day you never know what you qualify for.
I have a child at Howard who says they are not mentioning the EFC on tours, and that the tier 1 is still available according to some. Admissions told me that notifications would go out on 3/15, so I am going to hold my breath until then.
They handled this just as poorly as they handled the acceptance/wait list letter mix-up.
I still haven’t received an admission decision. I’m an international student, regular decision
Just called Admissions Office because our S hadn’t heard back, although he applied early action. Got a voicemail from Admissions saying that the office was closed and that the office was open on Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. The time is now 2:48pm on Monday. Is it too much to ask for someone to turn off the after hours outgoing message? Wow. Not a good look.
@umsigmadom Howard is on spring break, so I doubt you get an answer before 3/21
Ok! Thank you for talking me down from the ledge. Is there anyone else that has applied EA that has not heard back yet? S has a 3.6 gpa and a 27 on the ACT, so he would be on the outside looking in for the scholarships based on the new criteria. I would have at least thought he would have heard back by now. Frustrating.
I would keep trying when they get back in session. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an oversight. We applied early action and got decision in December. They first sent an acceptance, then sent another email two hours later saying my daughter was waitlisted (she has a 3.7 and 31 on ACT), then 9 hours later got an apology email for sending the wait list. So I’m wondering if they ever correctly answered people who are actually on the wait list?
@TR186 Yes. They correctly fixed the waitlist problem. You can’t be waitlisted for EA only rejected or deferred.
@umsigmadom I applied EA and only just got notified of my acceptance last week. I’m very aware of how frustrating the wait is, trust me. People apply EA to be notified early (usually December), yet here we are in March, with some people still not hearing anything.
Howard emailed me a week ago with my scholarship info. I applied way back in November. Hang in there if you’re still waiting!
Bro !!!
what was your score ??
I got only 1190 in composite and reading the post here they say HU have changed their scholarship decision. Can i get into it ? Plz reply myaan i was blank when i heard that news
I applied in December for the Art program and had to wait until January to submit my portfolio. Nobody in my school has heard back from them. It’s really frustrating [-(
Is Howard usually this late when sending out responses? And are rejection letters sent out last or at the same time as the acceptances? This process is killing me.
@k1997h I’ve seen some rejection letters so far. And yeah they’re unorganized with releasing stuff. If you applied EA I would call on Monday about your decision. If you applied RD then you still have time. Most RD won’t be out until the end of the month or early April.
Howard replied my email saying:
Thank you for your interest in Howard University and for contacting us! In observance of Spring Break the University will be closed Saturday March 12, 2016 through Sunday, March 20, 2016. The University will re-open on Monday, March 21, 2016.

@Snowybuny congrats! Did you just get your notification today? And was it by email or mail?
