Howard University Class of 2020!

The worst part about this whole thing is that the school itself hasn’t even said that the scholarships are changing, I had to hear it through the grape vine. I feel like this is the kind of thing that Howard should definitely be vocal about since it impacts so many people.

@starburst98 My thoughts exactly! It’s sad that we’re finding out through social media. I found out from a current student’s YouTube page. Makes me a little more apprehensive about HU (along with other issues).

@simplejoy yep I found out from BlackGirlsYouTubeToo and most others seem to have found out through twitter. I know administration is a mess but I figured I’d at least have to wait until I get there to deal with them! This is making me question Howard too, but honestly it’s probably the only place that will give me enough money, so I’m trying not to let it get to me too much.

Hi everyone! I’m applying to Howard for Accounting

GPA: 91/100
ACT: 32

I’m also applying to (in no particular order):
Ohio State
UMich
Miami University
Quinnipiac
Wake Forest
U Chicago
and a few others.

Good luck to everyone else applying!!

Does anyone know if they tend to run out of money with the scholarships? I know that they say that not everyone eligible will receive an award…I don’t want to register for the December SAT if my scholarship eligibility won’t actually change.

What exactly are the scholarship changes? I can’t find the Twitter posts anymore

EDIT: nevermind I just located it

I posted a link earlier

Does anyone know when decisions are coming out? Also, did any of you guys check to make sure Howard received everything?

We did and this is what they told us: If you have mailed documents to accompany your application, please allow two to four weeks of processing time to confirm receipt of your documents. You will be notified via email of your decision once a decision has been rendered. If you submitted all documents via the Common App, that’s fine we are working diligently to render a decision for you in the next few weeks. We will begin releasing Early Action decisions in mid-December, however in the meantime, you will not be able to check the status of you application.

@mtjones1 Okay thank you!

Asian:
GPA: 3.9
SAT : 2290
Nice to meet you

@Quanh261997 wow you have awesome stats! Welcome to the thread!

Is anyone nervous about decisions? We only have a few more weeks to go.

I’m really nervous about decisions. Not necessarily about getting in, but with scholarship money. I’m only a few points off and I’m sending new SAT scores but I just hope they don’t run out of money.

I’m nervous about scholarship money too. I just need one more point on ACT to get a scholarship, but I don’t know how soon December ACT scores will be sent in and if I’ll improve. I really wish they didn’t change the scholarship eligibility

Yeah I know December SAT scores dont come out until December 22, and I have no idea how long it’ll take for Howard to process it. I imagine since they changed their eligibilty requirements, theres gonna be a lot of other people in our shoes, so hopefully they’ll take the new scores into consideration even if its late December.

I’m 1 point away from getting the room, board, tuition, fees, and etc. It’s sad how HBCU’s aren’t getting as much funding anymore.

I really wish they had informed everyone earlier about the change. Better yet had not drastically changed the Tier IV scholarship. Son will take the ACT again, but no gurantee he will improve the one point he needs. He qualified under the older criteria. He has a 27.

@umsigmadom that stinks! I dont know why Howard doesnt have the updated info on their website, as a lot of folks are going to be disappointed.

Hey guys! My name is Samiyah gpa: 3.3 ACT 28 retaking in December. Hope I get accepted! They told me my application is being processed so I guess all I can do is wait!
