howd u get into berkely

im interested in wat u did to get into berkely
valedictorian, lot of community service, wat
i wanna get to good school and stuff and i want to see what you guyz/gals
did to get in

They started by learning to spell and use punctuation correctly. :)

you spelled Berkeley wrong

Write damn good essays. Given the absurd quality of your inquiries, for you that will be impossible.

You people are rude. I suggest you:

1) get over yourselves.
2) grow the heck up.

For all you know, the OP can be an overly ambitious freshman entering high school.

To answer the OP's question: I think it's hard to pinpoint the right combination of ingredients needed to earn you a spot in the hearts of the Cal adcoms. High school was a long journey for many of us, consisting of a variety of achievements. But I can tell you this... Part of the reason many of us made it to Berkeley was because we had a genuine yearning to become educated, and the work-ethic to get us here. Stay motivated, and work hard.

Motivation comes out of creating palpable goals for yourself which transcend the mere admittance into a good school. If Berkeley's selling point to you is simply its reputation... then I assure you that as soon as you get here -- you wont be able to keep up with the rest of us.

Wish you the best.

that's a long answer to a simple question. Just get high GPA, take many AP and honors courses, and do well on the SATs and you will get in easily.

some of u guys need to calm down.

yah the kid is on a freaking internet forum. from your answers, the requirements for berk students are clearly along the lines of "pretentious bastard, CHECK"

We just hate having to read posts with egregious grammar mechanics.

rite now im in the atdp program
do u think that will do any help

do the best that you can, have the best time you can in high school, and make sure that all your personality, your hard work, and ur interest in berkeley/UC is shown in your application and your essays.

Oh man this won't get you into any college (save that virtual one), but please please use proper grammar and spelling, won't you? You don't have to be perfect (I'm definatly not), but try. Using "rite", "u" and stuff may seem cool. And for sure it's helpful while you are on AIM and the like, but on a forum it's just immature. And it will save you the trouble of having to fight grammar and spelling nazis with every post.

Do whatever interests you. If that means studying 70's porn history, digitizing every John Holmes 8mm reel for posterity, or petitioning to mandate more stringent health monitoring for pornstars, then more power to you.

It's about passion--and if you possess even an ounce of it, you will be unique. Ever wonder why many resume whores don't make it to their top choice colleges, despite pretty good stats? Because they flock like sheep to every activity/volunteering event and meander until someone tells them to pick up the trash or pop the balloons. They are expendable, take up space, and when they sit down to write their admissions essays, they discover they can't write more than one line about the camaraderie they felt popping balloons and picking up trash. Make your high school/community college experience rich enough so that when the time arrives, the essay will write itself.

nicopico is a funny dude.

nicopico also made the most meaningful post.

get lucky and write really really really kick ass essays. that's what I think got me in.
