All A’s except for one B in economics D:

I did worse than expected this semester because of the change to the schools grading policy. They switched to a campus wide grading scale that looks like this.
A …95-100%
A- …93-94%
B+ …91-92%
B …87-90%
B- …85-86%
C+ …83-84%
C …80-82%
C-
78-79%
D+
…76-77%
D
.72-75%
D-
70-71%
F
…0-69%

This means that my grades which would have been B’s and 1 C last semester are now C’s and a D+. It also means that I am on suspension and must file a petition to receive financial aid next semester.

Has anyone else had experience with a grading scale this extreme? I would be curious to see what the grading scales look like at some other schools around the country. By the way, the school I am attending is Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.

^The only time I’ve experienced that sort of curve is when almost everyone did well and the average was around 80-90% and it was clear that people had different levels of understanding.

I see that the grading scheme is adjusted such that the average (80-82%) is a C, which isn’t unreasonable if the classes are too ‘easy.’ Source: http://www.witc.edu/pgmpagescontent/nurseassoc/handbook/pdfs/Grade%20scale%20and%20rounding%20FY13.pdf

This was my first semester in college, after being out of school for quite a while. I managed to finish the semester off with a 4.0…So I was quite proud. I’m glad to be on break now, but I’m not having much of a break really. I’m trying to skip Geometry and Algebra II by retaking the placement test, so that I can start College Algebra next semester…so I’ve been studying math for basically the whole break. On the whole, I’m really looking forward to the classes I’ll be taking next semester…so I can’t wait to be back really.

3.55 for the semester. My GPA has seen better days but I just had no interest in my classes

This semester: 3.88 (A, A, A, A-, & A-) [I anticipated an “A” in one of those “A-” classes…missed it by 0.25 points, and I was off by ~0.90 points in the other “A-” class…ugh!]
Overall GPA: 3.58 (I see my GPA going up from here on out, and want to make at least a 3.70 GPA (Magna Cum Laude) at graduation)

I have an A in one class, and pretty sure of an A for the second. The third is either an A or an A-. I only took 12 credits, since my research acted as a non-credited class.

GPA is very dependent upon what university you attend.

This semester didn’t go quite as well as I had hoped, but it was all A’s and then my bombed econ final brought my grade lower than expected… followed by one class I just didn’t understand in the least.

My DD isnt’ a member, but I’ll post hers. Missouri S&T (MO Rolla) - Chem Engineering:

3.5 overall on 16 credit hours. Brings her total after 1 semester to 56 hours.

Micro Econ - A
History - A
Chem 4 (1 credit safety course) - A
Freshman Eng seminar (another 1 credit course) - A
Calc III - B
Engineering Physics I - B

Above the 3.25 needed to keep all her academic aid, so everyone’s happy. And a good experience, too. She loves the school.

A- in Organic Chemistry
A in Arabic
A in Genetics
B in Cellular Biology
B in Physics II (which I am in the process of debating as they gave a Downward curve!) not fair.

Got a 3.81 this semester. Not bad considering I did five classes (well six including a one unit seminar), and four were graduate level.

A in Linear Statistical Methods (ug), Linear Dynamic Systems (g), Transmissions And Multiplexing (g). Imaging seminar (1 unit, g)

A- in Advanced Algorithms (g)
B in probability and stochastic processes (g sadface)

Not too shabby

The highest grade at my school is an A.

A in Asian History
B in Calculus II (very proud of that one)

I don’t know the two others! Probably an A/A- and hopefully a B+ or higher. But grades are unlikely to come out now, on Christmas day.

3.77

Woop woop

Psych stats: A
Social psych: A+
Ancient religion: A+
Disability studies: Pass.

It was my first semester after transferring from a community college. I’m… relieved. I’d be pretty upset if I couldn’t handle a schedule with only three real classes (the fourth was really easy and graded pass/fail). Let’s see how next semester with four academic classes goes.

Mono and pledgeship may have killed me.

~3.60
Honors seminar - A+
English 200 - A+
Poli Sci 100 - B
Philosophy 101 Honors - B+
French 101 - A-

3.25 my very first semester @college, pretty happy!

Sent from my SGH-T999 using CC

Received my first 4.0 ever in college.

I got a 3.83 (18 units; 5 classes), but I’m at a cc. 1 more semester and I transfer. I’m taking stats, physics, history and an elective next semester.

18 hours; GPA 4.000; ENGINEERING major.

Better than expected; still not very happy with college, tho.
