How's art program at Stanford?

<p>Hello, I am a rising senior who lives in Ontario, Canada and I am really interested in art program, I may also minor in dance. I've heard standford offers amazing engineer/eco/psycho programs but no one has ever mentioned about art program. the reason why I'm applying is becasue I love Stanford itself. why? Do I need an explanation?, it's basically same as what you guys are thinkin. </p>

<p>My SATs are not that great (650 700 780) but I'm retaking this upcoming october but ECs are fine enough. (they may be the strongest factor) I've been several sports team captain, participated in two international service projects (Honduras, Kenya), choir excutive memeber, peer counselor,and blah blah (its going to take for ever). GPA is 3.9 unweighted. Our school does not rank but top 10% for sure. </p>

<p>OK, to go back to the main topic how good is art program? I'm also applying to Williams, Columbia, NYU-Tisch, Harvard, USC, Northwestern but Stanford is my first choice definitely. I'm going for Film for some schools such as Tish, Columbia, USC and NU. Because I want to get more broad range of education for my undergrad, I'm seeking for schools where offer great curriculums/education. I may go to USC for my grad to more focus on Film. </p>

<p>I'm working on my portfolio these days, but not sure if stanford wants me to admit portfolio w/ my application. I will go figure it out but if any of you knows, then please answer me :D</p>

<p>Unlike other asians, I really suck at math and science which makes me kind of feel abashed (fortunately I got As on them -worked incredibley hard on them - god why am I so dumb..) but art,music,dance and physical ed. I've heard application process is really competitive for asians... wow.. Do I have any chances? If I increae my SAT scores up to 2200? (working hard) </p>

<p>It's amusing that some people feel like they have failed with high but not phenominal sat scores or feel stupid when they do as best as can be done in a subject.</p>

<p>Stanford is not known for art. USC has great art, and their film, as well as NYU, are the two best in the world. Good luck getting into those, for you need it, even if you're steven spielberg (rejected from usc film three times).</p>

<p>Williams and Columbia are supposed to offer great, broad curriculums, and Stanford has its slightly more focused but still broad IHUM classes.</p>

<p>If you're truly interested in the arts, Stanford might not be the best place for you. However, for an undergraduate education, it's one of the places to be.</p>
