Hows computer science and engineering at UCI??

I was accepted a couple of weeks for the major of computer science and engineering and was just wondering how is this major at UCI??

Bump…
I could really use a response im between UCI and Cal Poly Pomona for computer science

UCI over Pomona anyday for me because I know several people with bad experiences with Pomona’s cs department.

@VHASTHIS
Really all my friends keep telling me that Pomona is much better and much more hands on with technology majors and there is more job recruiting Pomona there??
Could you tell me what their specific complaints were??

Bumpppp again

How about Pros and cons for Computer science between UCI, UCSB and UCD?

How about the pros and cons for EE of CPP and UCI since they are so related?

My daughter is a freshman ICS (Information & Computer Science) major at UCI in the Bren School. It’s an excellent program, challenging but interesting with great support from the school and the staff. It’s been a great choice for her. I honestly think UCI’s program is superior to Cal Poly Pomona’s, plus as a location…WAY superior. That campus is gorgeous.

You should definitely email the school to talk to someone, they are VERY helpful and will answer all your questions. Here is the link for prospective undergrads:

Good luck with your decision.

Thanks could I get more replies :)

One large advantage of UCI is the availability of research in case you plan to apply to grad schools/pursue a degree in research (PhD). UCI’s ICS program is very specialized with a lot of different tracks and courses to choose from (you shold compare the classes offered at the two schools). Also, I can easily vouch for the college at UCI because I had a complete blast…and…it’s a UC. All UCs are awesome :]. Also keep in mind that CSUs have recently gotten hit with a lot of budget cuts which might be an issue…

On a side note, I majored in EE and took a few classes with CSEs. The cool part of CSE is you get the fundamentals of EE necessary for systems level jobs while getting more experience as a programmer which is where many jobs are moving towards today.
