How's Cornell athletics?

I want to ED Cornell this year, and as a basketball girl I'm really curious of how Cornell athletics are. From the CC college search it appears rather weak, but I just want to make sure.
So, how's Cornell women basketball, outdoor hiking stuff, or other sports? Are there sports that Cornellians pretty good at? Ice hockey?
Looking for sth to balance my work load, since I'll apply for engineering lol.

If you’re looking as to athletics to just do on your own, Cornell is actually quite good. I suggest you look at the plethora of PE courses offered, plus dozens of club sports and intramural activities.

If you’re talking about our division I varsity teams, it really depends on the sport.

By Ivy standards, Cornell athletics are relatively strong. Cornell has very successful programs in women’s and men’s hockey, men’s lacrosse, and wrestling, all of which are often highly ranked nationally. Women’s hockey has made the Frozen Four [nat’l semi’s] the last 3 years. Men’s basketball recently had a great run - 3 straight Ivy titles, Sweet-16 in 2010. Football is also on the upswing. Outdoor education is outstanding with many offerings. The Ithaca area, with 4 state parks and Cayuga Lake nearby, is great for hiking and other outdoor pursuits.

Women’s hockey is ranked #3 in the country in preseason polls. Men’s soccer, now 5-0, is ranked #24 in the country.
