How's Everyone Doing?

I spoke with my counselor two weeks ago getting my medical stuff straightened out and she said that my file was completed a while back (i turned everything late september, early october) and since at the time would be infront of the review board when they started meeting (last week).

At the time my SAT scores were 580 verbal / 650 math but i took the SATs again (4th time) and got it up to 590/680 (original scores last year were 560/560 so deffinate improvement from last year).

My question is if they reviewed with my no-current scores (580/650) and since my new scores were received only yesterday, would they re-review my file? Or would i have to wait till march for them to do that? I also sent in a letter saying that i won a couple of awards from the AP board, hopefully those will be considered as well.

Side note: If anyone calls the number 1-719-333-3333 to check their status, dont be scared if it says you are not competitive. I called recently and it said my application was not competitive because of my PAE. I called a few people and got up to the assistant director for admissions and he explained that that number isnt supposed to be used. Since there is a test on the PAE not on the current CFA, it consideres that test (i think 600 yard shuttle) a 0, thus, not competitive.

Needless to say i had a heart attack when i heard the message say i wasnt competitive.

I tell you it has been souch a roller coaster, checking mail... waiting. Checking mail...waiting. Getting phone calls...waiting. Hope i get something just so i can sleep at night now~!

I would assume that they re-review your file as new things come in and are added.

Thats good. After last year, it would nice to not get any letters that contain the words "Regretably", "Unfortunately","However" or "Sadly."

I did have on letter that started with "Congradulations" and that was my nomination (and PCQ but i think everyone gets one of those). When my parents saw that word (held letter up to light) they came to my school running down the auditorium (where i was doing tech work).

I dream of something similar happening this year...

I have learned to do everything possible. I make sure that i take notes when ever i call of who i am talking to, what they say, when, where they are transfering my call, the number of who they are transfering me (since the phone systems is worth nothing) and their mom's maiden name (not really...).

Ive also said screw-it and taken the ACTs and SATs a couple more times, each with increasingly better results. I will be taking them one more time in december just to have hopes of possibly getting better scores.

Finally, i keep in regular touch with my ALO and Admissions counselor. Sometimes i find things out that i assume i should not have known but are useful.

Another great thing about constant calling was my medical. I kept calling until a sgt at DoDMERB actually looked into my case and found that there was something/one holding my waiver request up.

I keep offering the same advice to everyone else in this boat: Persistance, determination and desire.

Does anyone exactly know how the review board works?

Say a file was completed well before october and was decently competative, would it be right to assume it had been up against the board already?

Also, has anyone heard if any LOA's have been given out?

This waiting is going to drive me insane by the end of the year. I'd do anything just to have my peace of mind right now.

I'd expect that your file possibly went before a review board already, but if not, it will very soon. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the minority of people who apply actually have everything in my the time the first review boards meet. You are more likely to hear soon, but you may not.

Yeah, this waiting is killing me. I know that I'm probably going to hear thursday next week, and if not then, definately by friday. As of right now, things aren't looking good in the concentration/sleep department until then...just gotta try to put it out of my mind I guess.

I'm not so sure anyone knows how the review board works. My file has been completed for about a month now and I asked my ALO if there was any way to know if my file had gone before the board and he said they have done one look at my file already and this month they will look at my file for the second time and then in December my file will have a final review. He didn't say anything about LOA's but I did send him another email this afternoon asking how many times they will look at the applications before they potentially let us know anything. I'm hoping he says it only takes one and yours is on the way, but that's probably a little too optimistic. In the meantime, I am doing the mailbox shuffle like so many others.

The mailbox is my best friend. Man its hard to think now.

Son has his first MOC interview tomorrow and the other two are next week - so that's kind of focusing his energy somewhere other than the mailbox. He's happy to have his Falcon Foundation app submitted as well as the app for Northwestern Prep. - so plan B is covered. I think the first ROTC CSP board meets on December 12.

Continued good luck to all of you. It's been a little discouraging seeing the LOA's and appointments to USNA and USMA already - but I'm proud and happy for each of them. AFA will catch up.

I haven't even been contacted by my MOC's yet (regarding the interviews, that is). Is this bad? Also, I haven't heard anything at all from my congressman, only from my senators. I'm not sure why this is.

The dates for the interview came with the app instructions for each MOC. A letter from each with the interview time and location came about a week ago. They also sent a letter when the file was complete. So I guess it just depends on each MOC how they communicate things. Do you know when the interviews are supposed to take place? When in doubt - just ring the academy coordinator up - they'll be more than happy to talk to you.

My letters for interviews came at random. Probably depends on your office.

"I know that I'm probably going to hear thursday next week, and if not then, definately by friday"

What makes you think that?

"I haven't even been contacted by my MOC's yet (regarding the interviews, that is). Is this bad? Also, I haven't heard anything at all from my congressman, only from my senators. I'm not sure why this is."

Not bad at all. Only one of my senators has closed his nominations and i havent heard from him (Barak Obama - IL). The other (Durbin - IL) is still open till Nov 11 and my congressmans is open till Dec 2nd!

I got mine from my congressman and after the 2nd it went really quick. Had my interview the following week then got nomination 3 days later!

this waiting is pulling a serious number on me....

i finished everything...including interviews for nominations more than a month ago....

i got my LOA for usna, which was really nice, but i'm DYING about usafa.....

i didnt know they looked at files more than once (referring to texas falcon) maybe i should call my ALO again about that.....

have any LOA's gone out? has the board even met 'officially' to do LOAs?

The board met this week I believe for AFA. So, no LOA's yet. Maybe soon, I hope.

It's interesting, my senators do NO interviews. Only my congressman has one, and its on Dec. 3rd if I am contacted (pretty sure I will).

""I know that I'm probably going to hear thursday next week, and if not then, definately by friday"

What makes you think that?"

On Tuesday, the Air Force XC Coach called me and told me that he had written me a rec and bluechipped me, and that he knew my file was going before the board on wednesday, and that he'd call me on thursday and if not thursday then definately friday.

hey I'm from IL too and I was wondering... are you at all worried you didn't hear from Obama yet? because the letter said they'd contact for interviews by Nov. 1st... it said the interviews would be on Nov. 12th.

I just like have to worry about EVERYTHING and this is my current concern.
